Greetings Friends,

The basis of intimacy is trust.  Intimacy is to enjoy nearness to the one who is loved.  Intimacy is often lost as a result of hurt.  The hurt causes one to loose confidence and faith.

Why do children lose intimacy with their parents?  Why do married couples lose intimacy with each other?  Why do Christians lose intimacy with God?  One of the reasons Christians loose intimacy with God is because HE does not always speak to us in the terms that we desire. Therefore, our pursuit of God may diminish.  Was there a period of time in the story of Job that his pursuit diminished?  Job's friends did not understand the importance of loving a friend to freedom.  A very important ministry we need to be prepared to do for our friends is to love them through a difficult time in their life.  Too often we seek to give spiritual answers or do great deeds to deliver a friend from the difficult situations, but in most cases, it is simply best to love them through it.  This was something Job's three friends did not understand at all.

Isaiah 55:7-9 7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.  8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.  9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If I choose to turn from God because I am not presently enjoying what God is doing in my life, then my faith is very small.  It was not possible for Job to understand, what God was doing in his life.  He did not have God’s perspective.  Intimacy requires trust.

Romans 8:28-29 28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, ….

Faith yields and the soul of man experiences the reality of God.  The reality of God may be joy in the midst of the darkness.  The reality God may be grace to suffer affliction.

1Peter 4:19  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

The reality of God may be:  Hebrews 11:36-39  36  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:  37  They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38  (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.  39  And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

But because God does not always speak to us in the terms that we desire, our pursuit diminishes.  What are the terms by which God is speaking to you today?  Is there hurt in your life that you do not understand?  “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  (Matthew 11:28)  Will you come to HIM and trust HIM today?
