Greetings Friends,

I am confident all of us have been discouraged at the falling away of our society from the basic tenets of the Christian faith.  This scenario has been played out many times before in the history of this world.  Israel was born to be a Holy nation unto God.  Their calling was to serve God and to accomplish the purposes of God.  But even a casual reading of the books of Jeremiah and Daniel tell us of a turning away from God and the eventual captivity of the nation as a means of God‘s judgment.

America is a nation that was birthed from Christian visionaries.  Leaders who sought the blessing of God upon a nation.  Patrick Henry whose most famous quote is "Give me liberty or give me death...." also said:  "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often this great nation wasfounded not by religionists but by Christians not on religion but on the gospel of Jesus Christ."

John Quincy Adams signer of the Declaration of Independence said:  "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this:  that it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of Christianity and the principles of civil government."

For nearly 150 years following George Washington's departure from the office of president of the United States..., his farewell address was taught to all the students of America.  In that address, President Washington said that we should not allow a person to claim to be an American patriot if they attempted to remove the Christian faith from politics.

From 1690-1890, one of the main readers used in the education of the children of this country was the New England Primer.  And in this primer children leanred their ABC's by memorizing scripture.

A- A wise son maketh a glad father
B- Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
C- Come unto Christ all ye that labor and are heavy laden.
D- Do not the abominable thing which I hate
E- Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

For 200 years, the Word of God shaped the character of our nation and the blessing of God was upon America as a nation.  The blessing and protection of God was upon us.  It was Francis Scott Key who wrote the National Anthem. It was Francis Scott Key who included the words "In God is our trust" and it was Francis Scott Key, a Washington lawyer who believed in God and had a living vital relationship with Jesus Christ.  Charles Finney who was also a lawyer, while studying "Blackstone's Commentaries of the law“, was converted to Christianity.  There was sufficient scripture and testimony of the truth of the gospel in this legal commentary that this lawyer was saved while reading this commentary on the law.  Because Blackstone's commentary was the standard commentary used by law students, the Bible was the basis for justice in the development of the American legal system.

And we that Charles Finney left the field of law to become one of the great American preacher's of the last century.   America like Israel was raised and was maintained by the blessing of the Lord.  But what has happened.  I could spend a great deal of time, detailing the shortcomings of our society, but you know them as well as I do.  We all know the sorry depraved, shameful moral condition of our country, consider just a couple of verses in relation to our present state.  For we are a nation like Israel who knew God and who knew HIS blessings and protection.

Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Psalm 50:21-23  21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. 22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there
be none to deliver.  23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

America has forgotten God and HIS protection has been removed.  We are in desperate need of revival so that the blessing of God can come back upon this great nation.  The practical insights of the book of Daniel will teach us resolve in the midst of an unbiblical world view.
It is a book of prophecy and it is a book of important practical insight.
A principle that is rehearsed throughout the Old Testament and reiterated in the book of Daniel can be easily remembered by this acrostic.

Daniel as a youth was deported from Judah to Babylon and lived in captivity during the entire 70 years.  He was trained for 3 years to be a servant to King Nebuchadnezzar.  And as he was being trained, a youth in a foreign land, a youth in a hostile environment, he showed great character and faith.  Daniel determined that he would obey God rather than man no matter what the consequences.  Daniel lived out his faith in trying times. We need this same type of faith.  Is there hope for America?  Or, can we only look forward to doom and destruction?  God in HIS mercy gives mankind an opportunity to turn from his sin and to repent.  He gives individuals, He gives families, He gives communities, He gives nations, opportunity to repent, but if they do not repent, in God's good time, HE sends judgment.

Psalm 2:1-5  1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?   2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,  3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.   4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.   5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

This is our only hope.  Our government cannot protect us from a chemical or a biological attack or from our own people slaying committing lewd and heinous crimes.  God protected Noah from the flood.  God protected Abraham and his family from the fire and brimstone of Sodom and Gomorrah.  God protected 2 plus million Jews from the plagues of Egypt.  God protected the 3 Hebrew children while IN the fiery furnace.  God protected Daniel from the lion's den.  God has promised to protect HIS beloved bride from the great tribulation that shall come upon the earth.  Daniel gives prophecies of end time events and the book of Revelation details these events for us. Beloved, in all the ages past, God has put down the attempts of man to overthrow his righteousness and holiness.  We see this in the book of Daniel as the Omnipotent, Sovereign God brings proud and boastful men to humiliation and judgment.  How about you.  Whose side are you on?

We have voice that can praise God.
We have a heart and soul that can love God.
We were made to know HIM and to glorify HIM forever.
Do you know HIM?
Do you love HIM?
Will you purpose in your heart to be a Daniel and to stand for that which is right, no matter what the cost.
