Greetings Friends,

How much does the weight of guilt weigh?  How does the weight of guilt affect our lives?  Are we all not aware of the crippling power of guilt upon our lives.  It destroys the intimacy of our relationship with God and with others.  Guilt destroys our relationships with our mate, our children, our friends.  Guilt keeps us from being transparent, honest, and energetic in our pursuit of grace.  Guilt can produce deep painful scars that surface when we walk through another painful valley.  We say to ourselves:  “I deserve this and worse.”

We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ during the month of December.  It is a precious time.  It is a holy time.  It is a time of great blessing.   Beloved, God did not send HIS Son into the world to condemn the world.  The world was already condemned by their sin.  He sent HIS Son into the world to save it.

John 3:16-18  16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

God saw us from the foundation of the world in our sin.  He saw the entirety of our lives and HE SO LOVED US that HE chose to send HIS only begotten Son to pay the penalty for our sin.  Before we were born Jesus Christ bore in HIS body on the tree our sins.  He bore them and God the Father poured HIS wrath upon HIS Son and our sins were judged.

Romans 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Colossians 1:20-22  20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ during the month of December because God sent HIS Son to pay a debt we could not pay.  When we receive the gift, we are forgiven.

Romans 10:9-10  9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

He paid the price for all of our sins.  He did that two thousand years ago and when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior we are branded FORGIVEN!  God says:  You are my child!   You are my Son, my Daughter! You are a Joint-heir with Jesus Christ!  You are Redeemed!  You are Justified!  You are Sanctified!  You are Glorified!  This is what God has done for you through this miraculous amazing gift of Grace.  The sin is paid for and the gift is offered.  Will you receive it?  Let us read further on in our text.

John 3:19-21  19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.  21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Men and women hear the truth and because they love their sin they choose to reject the truth.  This is a fact of scripture.  God has provided this amazing gift, but there are those who do not want it.  They still want the darkness and the sorrow of sin.  Can you remember what the continual grind of guilt is like?  There is no peace in the soul when Guilt is grinding its torments in the soul.  There is no intimacy with God or others while guilt is pounding away at scenes from our past.  Guilt is a work of the Spirit.  It does not matter if we know what the Bible teaches on a subject on not.  If we sin, on any level, the Spirit of God produces guilt.  And if we do not know how to deal with guilt, we carry it.  Guilt drives us to decisions that will literally pulverize any good that is in our lives out of our lives.  Lost people and many Christian believers do not know how to deal with guilt.  And so, they need something.  They need something to take away the inner pain.

Teenage girls need love and acceptance and they seek that acceptance physically only to see the guilt grow.  The teenage boy becomes insecure and finds courage in alcohol and drugs, only to realize that he no longer enjoys being straight.  He finds a sort of temporary peace and escape from the continual grind of guilt that is going on inside but the guilt grows as his abuse grows.  The addiction grows stronger as the torment inside continues to grow as the sin grows.  How many scenarios are there?  What are the effects of rejection, abuse, bitterness, loneliness, absence of love and insecurity in a person’s life.   Are we even able to identify all of the areas of guilt that rise up in the soul that produce guilt and drive a sinner to find relief  in god forsaken ways?  If we do not know how to deal with guilt, there will be a continual grind of guilt.  “…the wages of sin is death…, …the soul that sinneth it shall die…, …Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;…. (The grind of guilt will be continual)  The soul of man will be eaten up with guilt and this life will be filled with despair and hopelessness.  With every sin guilt grows and GUILT cries out for satisfaction, but none is to be found for sin can only produce guilt and condemnation.    But beloved,

Luke 2:11-14  11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  12  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

2,000 years ago a baby was born in a manger.  This was a baby who was from everlasting to everlasting who first stood on the precipice of eternity and spoke into existence the untold number of galaxies and stars.  But the very son of God laid aside HIS regal robes of righteousness, HE laid aside his throne and right to rule and humbled himself and was born in a lowly manger.  Why did HE do this:  To rescue you and to rescue me to grant us forgiveness, so that, the guilt and condemnation that so plagued our souls would be gone.

Matthew 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

The light says 1John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Do you want the peace of God, the rest of God, the forgiveness of God?  You can have it all by simply receiving it and praising HIM for this unspeakable gift of grace.
